What Does a Wellness Coach Actually Do?

The honest answer

Wellness coaching is structured, one-on-one support to help you make and sustain the lifestyle changes you already know you need to make.

That is the whole answer. The detail is in how that works.

What a wellness coach is not

  • Not a therapist. We do not diagnose or treat mental health conditions. If that is what you need, a licensed therapist is the right call.
  • Not a doctor. We do not prescribe, treat conditions, or replace medical care.
  • Not a nutritionist or dietitian. We may talk about food, but we do not build meal plans or run lab work.
  • Not a personal trainer. We are not cueing your form at the gym.

We work alongside all of those professionals — often as the person who helps you actually follow through on what they recommend.

What we do

Most coaching sessions cover three things:

  • Where you are now — honestly, without judgment, with the numbers that matter (sleep, energy, mood, movement, food)
  • What you actually want — not the Instagram version of health, the version that fits your real life
  • The smallest next step — and the account structure to make sure you do it

We work with beliefs, habits, environments, and stressors. We do not give you a meal plan and a workout split. We help you figure out why you have not done the things you already know to do, and we build the structure to actually do them.

Who benefits most

Coaching works best for people who:

  • Have a real diagnosis or symptom they are trying to reverse (autoimmune, gut issues, prediabetes, fatigue, weight that will not budge)
  • Know what to do but cannot get themselves to do it consistently
  • Have tried apps, books, plans — and they worked for 3 weeks, then did not
  • Are ready to be honest about the gap between what they say they want and what they are doing

If you are not ready to be honest, coaching will not work. If you are, the results can be dramatic.

How the sessions actually run

We meet 1-on-1 over Zoom, usually weekly or biweekly for the first 2–3 months, then taper as new habits lock in. Each session is 45–60 minutes. Between sessions, you have access to messaging for the moments where you need a quick redirect.

What changes first

Most clients see the first real shift in two areas:

  • Sleep. Within 2–3 weeks of intentional changes, sleep quality usually improves noticeably.
  • Energy. As sleep and stress regulation improve, daytime energy follows within the first month.

After that, weight, mood, digestion, and lab markers start to move — but those are downstream. The work starts upstream, with what you do every day.

What I bring to the work

I work with the whole person: what you eat, how you move, how you sleep, how you manage stress, the toxic load you are exposed to, and the beliefs you carry about your body. We rebuild from the inside out — not from a meal plan.

Ready to talk?

If you are tired of starting over and you want someone in your corner who is going to be honest with you, a 30-minute discovery call is the easiest next step.
